Checking a platform before you sign up
Signing up for a platform takes minutes. Reading what you're agreeing to takes a little longer, and it's where most later surprises come from.
The fee page
Find the page that lists what the platform keeps from each job, sale or payout, and any monthly charges. If you can't find one, ask before you start.
Payout rules
- How often payments are released
- The minimum balance before you can withdraw
- Any holding period on your first earnings
- Which payment methods work in your country
Account rules
Read what can get an account suspended, and what happens to unpaid earnings if it is. Rules about taking work off the platform are especially important.
Support
Check that there's a real way to reach the platform about a payment problem. A help centre with no contact route is worth noting before money is involved.
